Emergency Procurement Method

This method is used to address immediate needs of an emergency.

Determination For UseThis method of procurement may be used under the following conditions:
  • Unanticipated threat to life, public heath, welfare or safety.
  • For immediate and serious needs only. Not to include subsequent or non-emergency requirements.
Basis for AwardAs determined by the situation.
Brief Description of ProcedureIn selecting vendor, as much competition as feasible. Written approval by chief procurement officer may be obtained prior to or after-the-fact.
Monetary CapAs stated in the approval by the chief procurement officer.
Term LimitImmediate need only. As stated in the approval by the chief procurement officer.
Public NoticeNot required.
Public Notice of AwardAwards of $2,500 and above shall be posted on the awards posting site within 7 days of award. (Executive Branch)
ProtestsNone provided by statute.
PreferencesPreferences do not apply.
Electronic Procurement SystemMay be utilized for this method of procurement when feasible. May be directed to do so by the chief procurement officer.
